Jessica was born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1984. From a very early age, she loved to draw and was soon painting in watercolor and oils. As well as her love and talent for visual art, Jessica was also drawn to classical ballet. She spent over 12 years abroad training and dancing as a professional ballerina in Europe and also became a Meisner trained actor in New York City. Alongside her rigorous dance career Jessica painted as often as possible, during which she attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Since retiring from ballet, she is pursuing her other life long passion of painting.
Jessica combines figuration with expressionism and contemporary realism to create works that are at once arresting and instantly recognizable. Her images are humbly intense and convey the emotional sensitivity that she feels is at the heart of figurative and portrait painting. Her paintings evoke the essence of the most human emotions whose origin and outcome are equally unknown.
As an artist who works in Multiple media (movement, theater and fine art), her artist statement remains the same.
"With deep empathy and interest in capturing the essence of humanity in all of my work, I continue the search to understand what it means to be spiritual beings on this human journey."
Jessica Truesdale has participated in group and solo exhibitions internationally. She is thrilled to be exhibiting for the first time in the US this November at CultureFix in New York City.
